Series Scoring
Trail Series Standings >> Road Series Standings >>
The scoring is simple. The age groups for the NC Half Series are 0-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+ You will earn points in these age groups for each race you participate. The points are
- 1st – 50 points
- 2nd – 45 points
- 3rd – 40 points
- 4th – 35 points
- 5th – 30 points
- 6th – 25 points
- 7th – 20 points
- 8th – 15 points
- 9th – 10 points
- 10th – 5 points
- participation – 5 points
Please note the age groups (at each race) are defined by that race and may not follow the NC Half Marathon age groups. For example Groundhog Gallop Half Marathon may have age groups 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ and give the race awards based on those age groups. However, the NC Half Marathon Series ignores the age groups defined by each race and you are earning NC Half Marathon Series points in our age groups 0-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+
You are competing for age group points/awards but it gets even better. The top 3 overall male/female finishers in the series will receive cash. The overall points are awarded the same as the age group points 50pts for 1st overall, 45pts for 2nd overall, etc, etc. Note, you OVERALL POINTS and your AGE GROUP POINTS will not be the same. You are accumulating OVERALL POINTS based on your overall finish position. You are accumulating AGE GROUP POINTS based on your age group finish position… make sense?
Age-Up Rule. Your age group is defined for ALL races in the NC Half Marathon Series based on your age as of December 31, 2011. That means that the age group you will be competing in is your age as of the last day of the year. Remember this when you look at race results from the NC Half Marathon Series races. Someone may be in the 30-34 age group at a specific race but for The NC Half Series they may be in 35-39 age group (thus taking away your valuable points… darn that rule!)
